A house and home might both be built with bricks, planks, concrete and what have you, it have been agreed to really hold nothing in common. A home is built not just with the length of its roof or how deep the foundation is or how well the concrete is mixed. It has a few special features that make us call where we live a home.

The special features that makes where you live more than a house are those things that are dear to you and your family. A home unlike a house is that place that love dwells among the inhabitants; be it a family or a group of friends. A home is a place of harmony where trusts are built and conflicts are handled without constraint. A home brings peace to the mind and contentment to the mind. A house on the other hand is just that pile of bricks and whatnots where you dwell.

A home might be built with roofing sheets and clay but it is that place where your love is. It might be built with thatches and logs but it is that place where your commitment lies. It is a place where your dreams are supported and encouraged. It has something in it that makes you fond even when you are not there. It pulls you to itself even when you do not want to. It has something over you that make you want it as a part of your life. There is always something about a home that calms the spirit, body and soul.

The home is a place where all tribulations seems minor. It is a place where you can find support without having to beg for it. A house has nothing to offer you as a bed space and sofa in front of the television. A house is a place where everything goes. It might be worth millions of dollars in real estate but it is just a place that is filled with distrust and uncertainty, where everyone suspects everyone.

So, what you make of your home is up to you. The love and warmth you invest in it makes it suitable for you to live in it. When you have a settled home, you have a settled mind and secured life.

Living under one roof does not necessarily mean you have a home, I must say. It simply means you are off the street and have a place to lay your head at night and might as well be a guesthouse where everyone is welcome or where all sorts hide. A home that is devoid of love and trust is like a tree without water and thunder without lightening. It will have this void that grows bigger and bigger by the day till those involved becomes strains to each other.

A house can become a home with love and warmth. It gradually becomes where you really want to be when you see yourselves as one big happy family. A home makes your living much more interesting. A happy home is one basic thing any human being can have to be a success.
